History of the school

B/Ulhitiya Maha Vidyalaya is a school established under the Mahaweli settlement Development Project. So the ambition of this school to educate the younger generation of the those Mahaweli settlers.B/Ulhitiya Maha Vidyalaya was officially inaugurated on the 18th July in 1984.

Mr. N. M. Upasiri Nishshanka undertook the the duty as the first principal on that day itself and under his office the work in this school came into process. Though the school was started on the 18th of July the first pupils were enrolled the following day 19th. According to the documents there had registered 72 pupils at that day. Then the teaching activities had begun.

At the end of the year 1984 there had registered 228 pupils and this amount increased gradually. 2838 pupils had entered to this school since then and  648 both girls and boys are attending at the moment.

At the beginning of the school there had been 2 teachers only. But the end of that year itself this amount of teachers had become 6. There are 31 teachers at service now. And there are 3 minor staff members to help the teachers.
